On Monday, Erin and I had the opportunity to meet with Allison who is in charge of marketing for UGA's Auxiliary Services, which includes departments such as food services and parking services. She taught us a lot about her job and her role at UGA. Allison is very impressive because she taught herself not only photography skills but how to use digital software such as Photoshop in order to be able to use that knowledge for her job. I really like how most of the marketing is done through the school rather than hiring an outside company to do it for them. It's great that they hire the graphic design students to help out and have most of the equipment actually on site. Some of the printers that they had were massive! It was also a great meeting because we got to see what marketing came up with for our New England event. The posters were so well designed and way better than anything I could had ever come up with. Pictures down below!
After our meeting, we had another chance to work with catering for the Freshman College Banquet. We helped prep the salads, get the drinks ready, and clean up and take down the event. I liked catering because it's fast-paced and keeps you moving!
Getting the room ready
Oreo brownies and cheesecake!
I had such a blast on Tuesday because we got to go the Jittery Joe's Roaster to see how they roast their coffee beans. It was super interesting and informative as it is something I knew very little about going into it. Our tour guide was very friendly and answered all of our questions. They get coffee beans from 10-16 different countries and all of the beans taste different depending on the soil that they were grown in. At the roaster, they take those beans and roast them at a specific temperature for a designated amount of time to get the right darkness and depth of flavor. It was such an eye-opening experience for me because after going there and seeing what they do, I felt like working for a company like that is something I could possibly see myself doing in the future.

Look at how dark the Italian beans are!

After our tour, Erin and I spent the rest of the day getting some things together for our New England event because the next day we spend the entire day at the Village Summit, getting our decorations ready and putting everything together. It was a lot of hard work but the outcome was worth it!
Thursday was our big day! Luckily we did the majority of the work on Wednesday so on Thursday morning we just had to tweak a few of our decorations. We also got to help the cooks prepare some of our dishes, which I loved because it makes the food taste even better. :) The rest of the day was spent enjoying the food of course and getting feedback on how everyone liked it. I have to say everything went over very smoothly and it seemed like everybody liked the food and our decorations. It was hard work but it was exciting to me to be able to plan an event like that and actually execute it. Of course it couldn't have been accomplished without the help from the very kind Village Summit staff!

Thanks to marketing for the wonderful work!
Erin and I took down the decorations after lunch ended and cleaned everything up. On Friday, we met with Craig to go over our customer service presentation which is already next week, as well as to discuss our Strength Finders test more in depth and go over our resumes. Going over our resumes was especially helpful as mine needs to be updated and it's always best to get other people's opinions about things you can change.
I can't believe it but it's my last weekend in Athens. :( I feel very bittersweet about it but I'm just going to cherish my last few days here and spend my time enjoying all of the delightful people I have had the chance to meet.
Lastly, here are some pretty flowers I found at one of the campus' gardens. :)
