This week I learned about assessment and I continued working with HACCP Manager temperature probes.
In order to assess the customer service we provide in the dining hall, Emily and I drafted a customer satisfaction survey. In this survey we ask customers to rate things like how they feel about the helpfulness of the staff and the variety of food they have to choose from.
I also went to student worker assessment meeting this week. This meeting is part of an ongoing effort to determine how to best train and asses student workers in the dining halls. The goal of the assessment is to objectively show the management team weather or not the training was successful.
My mid internship review was this week as well. This was happily a very positive experience.Last thing about assessing: for part of my projects I am reading a book called 'Influencer' which explains that a key to influencing and leading others is setting clear goals and then continually following up by measuring results (aka assessment).
Haccp manager is a system for taking food temps and much more. It stores all of the information it records online allowing us to do away with paper and track food temps more accurately and efficiently. I learned that if anyone in the dining hall were to get food poisoning, these temperature records would be the first place we would look to find the cause of the illness. However these records are not merely for after a problem has occurred but also for prompting corrective actions in real time before any foods are out of temp for long.
Anyways I have been training staff how to use the handheld devices and online program via presentations and one on one. I will continue this project throughout the rest of my internship.
I had a relaxing weekend seeing Sertoma Park and going to the River Cinema in East Grand forks
