I'm sad to say that this is my last night in Athens. :( Before I get too sentimental, let me talk about what we did this week!
This week found us wrapping up our last project which was a presentation on customer service. Erin and I chose to discuss the language you use with your customers and how what you say affects them. It went well! We had fun playing a game of trivia at the end and got positive feedback from the managers attending the manager academy. Erin and I got more practice making pizzas afterwards over at the Niche Pizza Company. We also practiced how to deal with difficult customers as well as overseeing the staff and how to guide them. On our last day, we said our goodbyes :( and had our final evaluations with our coordinators.
It's hard to put the whole experience into words but it was amazing to say the least. I can't wait to apply the knowledge that I've gained here to future jobs in the food industry. This internship has pushed me outside of my comfort zone every day and I'm entirely thankful for having the opportunity to do so. I've made friends and connections all over this campus as the people here have been so warm and welcoming ever since my first day. I will definitely be coming back to visit Athens sometime in the near future.
Thank you again to all of the delightful staff at UGA!! A special thank you to our wonderful coordinators Kris and Craig.
-Maura :)
