Week 7 Erin and I got to visit with
the other establishments on the other side of campus and we met the manager
Rhonda who runs all of them. These establishments consisted of RedBud Cafe,
Element Cafe, and Flying Cow Café. Now Redbud Cafe and Elements Cafe are run by one
individual since they’re so small. Redbud Café is in the Sam Noble Museum which
offers a selection of soups, sandwiches, snacks, and deserts. The customers are mostly employees at the Museum and visitors which mostly consist of children. Elements is a café which is similar to RedBud Café, however this café
is located in Stephenson Life Sciences Research Center. A lot of the faculty
and staff love having this location right in their building so they don’t have
to walk over to Flying Cow Café. It seems to be very convenient for them.
This display is right next to Elements Cafe! It makes perfect sense that this Cafe is called "Elements" now.
If you look closely in each box there are objects that are products of each designed element on the periodic table! So cool!
After visiting with these establishments in the beginning of the week, the last two days I stayed at Starbucks which was a blast! Erin was sick on the
second day! However, I learned the life of a barista while also learning about how OU is
able to own a Starbucks. I also had the opportunity to learn on how to create
drinks while taste testing espresso shots. Now an espresso shot has
10 secs max after it's brewed before it needs to be served in the drink or it “expires”. This
means that the shot becomes a little bitter and Starbucks wants to serve the best quality coffee to their customers. I was fascinated by this because I LOVE
coffee. Literally. With this experience I also had the chance to visit Bookmark
which is located in the Bizzell Memorial Library. This library was SO neat
looking! Chris, the manager of Starbucks and Bookmark, took me into Peggy V. Helmerich Great Reading Room which you
could literally hear a pin drop. Apparently when you want quiet or you really need to
study this is the place to be. It was so grand! I felt rich just being in that
room!
Here is a mini frapp I made from the leftovers of a bigger frapp. This was a Smores Frappuccino! It's so tiny!
Here is an awesome view of the Peggy V. Helmerich Great Reading Room! It looks so grand!
